Simple, Pure & Beautiful
I’m so taken back by how simple and practical the principles of the Word of God are! How the heck do we make it so complicated?
Gen. 1:27-28 brings us back to the simplicity of it all! The BEST father in the whole world created us in His own image, for His good pleasure (relationship), followed by the very first blessing EVER! Please go back and read it, as this blessing was specifically for you and I! He commissioned us to go forth, multiply and fill all the earth….simple, pure and beautiful. Yes, we’ve messed things up a bit, hence “complicated” would be the nicest word I would attribute to all this mess that’s on us, not Him! He who is unchanging has remained simple, pure and beautiful in His intentions toward us…THANK YOU JESUS!
I may not be the brightest bulb in the box, however there are a few things in this life I’ve found to be true and unchanging. As a mom, when I gaze into the most beautiful and perfect faces of my children and now grandchildren, all I see is hope, future and endless possibilities! I see myself in the reflection of their amazingly delicious, dark chocolate eyes. As we share conversations and heart it seems that all is well in this world. The intimacy between a really connected parent and their child is priceless!
Then there’s our real world obligations of jobs, school, sports, church, date nights etc. If you’re joining me along this journey of learning to be cultured by grace then you’re aware of the meaning of the word INTENTIONAL.
This God, our Father is a BIG DEAL IN EVERY WAY!
He alone is omnipresent-everywhere.
He alone is omniscient-all knowing.
He alone is omnipotent-able to do anything.
Many a childhood memory of me and my four brothers and two sisters of always trying to one up each other in yet another of our many verbal wars often ended with the ultimate, icing on the cake, cherry on the top saying of, “Oh yeah! Well I’m INFINITY and BEYOND smarter the you!”…mic drop, leave the room, end of discussion. (I’ve already fessed up to not being the brightest bulb in the pack!)
This week I had the privilege of speaking in Palm Springs for Pastors Obed & Lissette Martinez and the amazing Destiny Church family and a few hundred leaders. (NO pressure…right?) Then I flew to our Milestone Church in Keller, TX to speak for Pastors Jeff & Brandy Little at their Flourish Women’s Event. God’s Word spoken through me was effective and anointed. I felt His good pleasure as I shared. (Humbling!) Everything about both these opportunities was an awesome BIG deal as I was about my Father’s business…simple, pure and beautiful.
When God blessed us and charged us with multiplication He threw in a little add-on, “Oh, and I also want you to produce after your own kind”…seems really scary…unless you go back to the beginning and remember that we are created in His image on purpose, with purpose.
The amazingly safe, intimate, protected, all-powerful best Daddy in the whole wide world is the place where I plumb line my life and all that he allows me to set my hand to.
In closing, I want to caution you that although He’s called us to reproduce after His own/our own kind, there is NO amount of outside achievements that will EVER make up for lack of our time in His presence. (i.e. worship, word, church, fellowship) Let’s commit this week to become more intentional in our time with Him and then as an overflow we’ll see what He places in our hands to steward, as we commit to being girls who are about our Father’s business.
